Technology

In the case of steel mills, thermal imagery is used to monitor the heat emitted by blast furnaces, and these signals are used to infer the production rate of a steel mill. The resulting time series can be aggregated in order to provide a leading indicator of demand for iron ore and metallurgical coal.
