Kayrros emission tracking products

enable regulators to determine the environmental impact of greenhouse gas and other air pollutant emissions worldwide. Results can be event specific, or aggregated by company or by industry. With this ability, regulators can design policy and pursue compliance while emitting companies and industries can design emission reduction measures with the greatest environmental benefit at the optimum cost. Tracking emissions is particularly important in the context of carbon border taxes, which require understanding of greenhouse gas emissions from other countries over which national regulators may have no jurisdiction.

Technology

Kayrros uses data from the Sentinel 5-P satellite, which is part of the Copernicus network operated by the European Space Agency. Abnormal concentrations of methane, nitrogen dioxide, particulate matter and other types of pollutants are detected automatically by proprietary Kayrros algorithms, which apply meteorological models in order to establish source flow rates and locations taking wind velocity and other local factors into account.
